This week's lesson video is on what I think is the most critical skill to practice in jazz improvisation.

I demonstrate this skill while soloing over Autumn Leaves.

And this isn’t just limited to jazz soloing.

This is the core ability that I work on when improvising over chord progressions in any genre.

We want to practice what’s often called “chord tone soloing”.

This means improvising with chord tones ONLY.

And making it sound good 😬

After that, anything else we want to play becomes a million times easier (and even starts to happen naturally).
